Appetisingly placed by St. James’s Park, Singh’s Restaurant hails the culinary heritage of the sub-continent with classic Indian and Punjabi cuisine. Diners are spoilt for choice with a wide offering of fragrant and fiery curry dishes, all served within an interior lavishly laden with deep burgundy and gold décor, ornate lanterns, and sculptures of silver elephants.
The flurry of Eastern fare could include the likes of barbecued butterfly prawns with spicy yoghurt and tomato chutney (£3.95) or the chilli paneer stir-fried with onions, peppers, and exotic spices (£2.95). The parade of flavours could then be chased up with the Punjabi lamb curry with garlic, ginger, and coriander (£7.50), the chicken korma with almonds and cream (£6.50), or the kerala fish curry with coconut cream and mustard seeds (£7.50). If meat or seafood dishes don’t tickle the fancy, a variety of vegetarian options – such as the gobi aloo adraki, with cauliflower and baby potatoes in a tangy ginger sauce (£3.30) – are also available.
