Scaling their indoor wall with a multi-level bouldering area, Durham Climbing Centre is kitted out with colour-coded climbing routes which change ever four to eight weeks. A stone’s throw from the University of Durham campus, the centre is also padded with a dedicated children’s area, as well as a coffee lounge, on-site climbing shop, changing rooms, and free parking for those not arriving by abseil.

If opting for the induction, budding climbers will gain gravity defying instruction from one of the centre’s knowledgeable staff, before being let out into the centre alone like a newly born mountain goat for the rest of the day. A panini and drink are also included to help energy levels.
