Looking out to a broad landscape of forests, hills, and grassy dales, Herding Hill Farm is rooted in the wild foundations a short march from Hadrian's Wall. Take to the hills with today's Groupon from Herding Hill Farm. Choose from the following options:• £69 for a two night weekday stay for up to five in a wigwam (Up to 62% Off)
• £79 for a two night weekend stay for up to five in a wigwam (Up to 61% Off)
A cluster of old stone buildings and wooden cabins looking out to the vast expanse of Kielder Forest Park, Herding Hill Farm offers a few little luxuries to take the chill out of camping. The tea room specialises in locally sourced food, with smoke-roasting barbecues every Friday and two alpacas to talk to while the food's cooking. The sparkly amenities block has underfloor heating, showers, and a sauna to warm up hike-weary toes. Fire pits can be filled with logs from the shop and gathered round long into the night, and guests tired of watching the sparks lift into the night sky can retire to bed in one of the wooden wigwams.
Head to Roman Vindolanda for a peak at one of the UK's most important archaeological sites, home to the writing tablets and exposing the area's deep history. Take a stroll alongside one of the most complete parts of Hadrian's Wall, then perhaps rent mountain bikes and pedal through Kielder Forest park. Look out for red squirrels, ospreys, and otters, then race back to the tea room to warm cold throats with hot drinks and a big slice of cake.
• Wigwams sleeping up to five people, with heating, kettle, microwave, and sink
