Snapping shutters and winding flashes, the teachers at Photobarn Photographic Training use their picturesque Northumberland location as a backdrop for courses ranging from the beginner to the professional. Whether on streets, on beaches, or in studio, Photobarn’s workshops aim frame-by-frame to illuminate the steps for taking photography from a budding interest to a dedicated pursuit or fully-fledged career. Location photography courses mingle with elucidations of how to shoot with models, while more professionally-oriented artists can opt for the one year Pathway course to expertise.
Mastering the bleeps and blinks of modern camera controls, customers can learn how to use their DSLRs to create adept images under the tutelage of Andy Brown, a photographer with over 20 years' experience. The first part of the workshop will be spent covering camera basics in the classroom, followed by a practical demonstration outside in the Alnwick countryside, taking in farm trails and chances to photograph wildlife. With instruction exposing technicalities such as aperture and shutter speed, Andy will focus attention on the theoretical secrets of students’ image-making machines. Full day workshops last over five hours, allowing budding snappers to go into more depth with features including ISO, and a light buffet with vegetarian options will be provided to put shaky stomachs in focus.
