The only skydiving centre in North East England, Skydive Academy is flocked to by jumpers wishing to swoop and leap from altitudes of up to 12,000 feet. The centre is a short jump from the coast, with flighty fun lovers enjoying spectacular views of the peaceful patchwork of green, brown and paisley-patterned fields. The drop zone has a pleasing cluster of extras, including indoor training facilities, a canteen and licensed bar, as well as an overnight bunkhouse for early risers.

Held on the first Saturday of each month, the static line course begins with a full day of ground school training, with the jump the following day (up to £205). Those opting for the tandem skydive will receive approximately 40 minutes training with preparation followed by a free-fall descent strapped to a trusty tandem instructor (£255). Reaching speeds up to 180 mph, those wanting another go can receive a £100 voucher to spend towards another descent.
