Serving up authentic and hearty Russian platters, Rasputin creates traditional dishes using as many locally sourced and seasonally British ingredients as possible. The merging of cultural bites creates a menu of fresh flavours, with plenty of vegetarian, meat, and fish dishes, with Moldovan wine to tease a well-travelled palate. Tucked away in central Swaffham, the alternative eatery is decked in contemporary decor splashed with traditional oil painting and Russian dolls, with a pool table in the corner for a bit of after dinner competition.
A two course feast will begin with a set starter of classic Russian nibbles, featuring tasters of rabbit pate on rye, mini pancakes with smoked salmon caviar, and cheese on toasted rye bread, all accompanied by a shot of vodka (£4). Main courses include the Grigory Rasputin pork (£12) a traditional recipe of wild mushroom and a splash of vodka, or a Peter The Great lamb shank (£13.50), a house speciality, slow roasted in red wine gravy and served with roast potatoes and marinated cherry tomatoes. Vegetarians can tuck in to the apple of love (£11), of aubergine stuffed with soy mince and smothered with cheese and mash, and guests can toast to a culinary win with a glass of house wine each (£3.50).

This is a fantastic place if you like something different on the menu. Everything we had was beautifully cooked and the waiter was very attentive. Even the chef came out and asked if we were happy with the food.
