Where steaks and Champagne are the name of the game, a Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill is a big player. The celebrity chef's Nottingham venture is located in the city centre within the Alea Casino and boasts all the usual hallmarks of his eateries. Impressive surrounds and fine British dishes are in steady supply, and just a dash of European influence provides the extra culinary flair.
A basket of bread for two (£3) with mixed marinated olives (£3) is the precursor for starters and mains from the a la carte menu. Served alongside a glass of Champagne (£7.95), starters include the likes of cocktail of prawns with sauce Marie Rose (£9.50) and parma ham with celeriac remoulade (£8.50). The main courses progress to meaty dishes like 10oz sirloin steak garnished with confit tomato and triple-cooked chips (£24.50), roast partridge with red cabbage and game sauce (£18), and roast rump of lamb a la dijonnaise with pomme dauphinoise (£17.50). Also included is £5 worth of table chips for an after-meal flutter in the casino.
