As well as a rich tapestry of teaching and professional qualifications, the textile designers Emma Learoyd and Jan Merryweather boast a unique bag of tricks gathered up from the retail industry. Emma Learoyd embellishes homes and wardrobes by hand-making her own designs for cushions, scarves and wall hangings rich with texture and colour while Jan Merryweather warms homes with luxurious leather cushions, mice doorstops as well as one off unique handbags. They both love passing on their talents through workshops and classes at their Nottingham City centre base, a quick stitch in time from the train station. 
With a choice of three workshops running from 10am to 4pm during the week, students can cotton on to inspired textile creation. The creative sewing workshop teaches students to make a cushion adorned with their own design, using appliqué or free machine embroidery, while the basic felt-making workshop shows how to combine colour and texture into soft felt and corsages with merino wool. A confetti appliqué workshop teaches the technique needed to turn chopped up fabrics and threads into intriguingly textured shapes, before using appliqué to add it to a simple book cover. All materials and fabrics are provided, as well as some thirst-busting refreshments.
