The Hotel
A country manor residing in the historic town of Stamford, the Garden House Hotel is a family-run lodging fronted by the copious greenery of a large walled garden. Within the traditional enclaves of this 17th century building are two dining rooms and a guest bar serving around 20 malt whiskies. The restaurant's fine dining dishes make the most of locally-sourced ingredients, with the chef doing his own butchery on the premises to ensure finer cuts.
Groupon Recommends
Just down the road from the hotel, the 16th century façade of stately home, Burghley House, stands amidst sweeping acres of garden and parkland. Built for and largely designed by Elizabethan Lord, William Cecil, the house is filled with history and fine art collections. To go back even further in time, take a jaunt to All Saints' Church; this building is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 and is rich in features from the centuries following its inception. At Stamford Museum you can dig a little deeper into the history of the local area, with community-based collections exhibited alongside more international showings.

Excellent location, good food, friendly and efficient staff, relaxing atmosphere.

It is fairly traditionally decorated but given the age of the building this seems sensible to me. I found it comfortable, attractive and well laid out for both the quiet drink we had before the wedding and the many not so quiet drinks we enjoyed afterwards.
