Transforming arm flailing and limp sashaying into explosive punches, kicks, and uppercuts, the instructors at Jon Jepson Black Belt Academy aim to get Derby fighting fit across a number of locations. Attracting men, women and kids of all ages to an array of fitness, kickboxing, and mixed martial arts classes, the academy allows people to get in shape, learn new skills, and pump their fists in the air without feeling silly, during a full body workout.
During the private lesson an instructor will spend time one-on-one tutoring a child in karate to help them roll with the punches, build confidence and exercise all-important self-discipline. Having first wrapped up in their new karate uniform, and chopped their way through the eight group lessons in two months, the kids can be assessed for their first belt grading and certificate, which they will be able to karate-chop in half should they pass.
