Offering an aerial view of Oxfordshire's rural tapestry, Bicester Gliding Centre is one of Europe's largest remaining grass-surfaced airfields, playing tribute to its historical origins as an RAF base by retaining authentic hangars and a pre-WWII bomb store. Avid flight enthusiasts aged 14 and up take to the country skies at the club and school, soaring over the designated conservation area with help from the centre's instructors.
Gearing up for an air-bound adventure, customers hoping to reach for the skies will first be taught the necessary know-how and given a safety briefing. Flyers will set off in a dual-control, two-seater glider with a BGA qualified instructor, getting the chance to take the controls and fly the glider with up to 30 minutes' air time. Post-lesson treats include a certificate and a three-month introductory membership to the centre.
