With two undulating courses enrobed by picturesque scenery, Thorney Golf Centre combines postcard-worthy aesthetics with a varied golfing challenge. Trim greens and peaceful waters offer up challenges for all levels and handicaps. The friendly and accessible club, just off the A47 near Peterborough, also boasts PGA tuition, a pro-shop, a driving range, and a restaurant.
Players with drive can enjoy a full round of golf for two or four along with a bucket of range balls per person. With lakes beckoning golfers like sirens of the sea, the 71 par Lakes Course has 6399 yards of water dotted challenges. Novice birdie chasers may chip on to the 6558 yard, par 70 Fen Course, which is ideal for those with a weightier handicap. Two or four buckets of cylindrical fodder will also be offered up to the golfing gods as players can smash away for serious yardage at the driving range, which houses several under-cover bays for all-weather swinging.
Reviews
Thorney Golf Centre was awarded a swinging 4/5 by Qype users while GolfShake reviewers rated the courses 3.2/5. Visitors suggested the Fens course may be more suited to beginners than the Lakes, though they generally enjoyed their rounds and gave special mention to the staff in the clubhouse.
This course is maturing well as the trees become more of a factor in your game. The rough, although quite short, will still grab and hide your ball so dont [sic] hit it there!

The bunkers are not much to worry about, but the greens are very varied in their speeds, and have tricky undulations and breaks. Fairways are in good nick, and the rough is very forgiving. A good course for people to play who are either new to golf or are looking to improve their confidence.
