At the end of pantomimes, carriages turn back to pumpkins and regal costumes to everyday rags, while horses split in half and wander on two feet. Stick to the fairy tale with today’s Groupon: £12 for tickets for two adults and two children to see the Cinderella pantomime at The Cresset Theatre.

With the festive season in full swing, The Cresset Theatre will be awash with tinsel, tiaras, and magic pumpkins as Eastender Cathy Murphy and Emmerdale’s Matt Milburn take to the stage as the Fairy Godmother and Prince Charming. An evergreen pantomime classic, Cinderella effortlessly elicits boo-hissing and cries of ‘look behind you!’ as a fairy tale of love lost and beautiful crystalline shoes is brought to life once more, with a hefty dose of chuckles and extra helpings of tinsel. This Premier Pantomimes production showcases seasoned villains Zach Venderfelt and James Dinsmore as they don dresses to terrify kids and tickle ribs as the ugly sisters, while up-and-coming princess Rebecca Cole takes centre stage as smouldering Cinders.

Taking their seats in family foursomes, seasonal spectators will go to the ball, enjoying drinks and nibbles as the show commences and Cinderella begins her rags to riches transformation. The heinous hijinks of the ugly sisters will keep kids holding bated breath, until one wave of the wand of panto magic has them to giggling through their mince pies, and a sing-along conjures up overwhelming waves of Christmas cheer.
