Hoisting flags from the spiritual home of the Royal Navy, Morvargh Sailing are dedicated to transforming landlubbers into fully fledged buccaneers, taking to the high seas with a selection of exhilarating sailing experiences. This not-for-profit organisation is less concerned with stashing doubloons in secret coves, and more enthused by helping the community embrace Plymouth’s seafaring heritage through venturesome and challenging experiences. Ages 12 and up are encouraged to flex their sea legs, with arduous voyages including the 2020 Atlantic challenge, in which brave souls sail to the US, returning with spoils of glory.
Budding deckhands will receive a briefing and get kitted out in safety gear, before bidding farewell to dry land from the deck of the 57ft Helen Mary R. Seaborne individuals will learn the ropes while hoisting them, receiving hands-on sailing experience while seasoned mariners man the helm. Voyages span from 9am to 4pm, and include a warm buffet lunch to keep vigour levels up for hearty yo ho ho’s and other impromptu nautical ditties.
