Equipping the country with wetsuits and tennis rackets, Active Nation is a fitness charity on a recreational mission to energise the population, instructing hands-on training courses in activities ranging from swimming to winter sports.
Propelling towards the Southampton Water Activity Centre for the first of four weekly sessions, one or two paddlers will first be kitted out with the necessary equipment. The instructors invite participants into their beginner-friendly Ahoy! rowing boats, where they’ll teach the basic techniques of sculling and give tips on getting afloat safely. Each session lasts approximately 150 minutes in total, with fully-fledged bladers presented with a level-one BRA certificate upon discovering their sea legs.
