Although more friendly than a kayak, a Mongolian yak won't do an Eskimo roll unless it is given a Swiss one first. Paddle out of a sticky situation with today's Groupon from Adventure College. Choose from the following options:
• £12 for a two hour beginners' kayaking course for one (60% off)• £24 for a two hour beginners' kayaking course for two (60% off)

With lessons in scuba diving, kayaking, and canoeing, Adventure College Watersports teaches land lubbers to take to water with all the gusto of a juvenile seal. The centre welcomes water babies and seasoned pros alike, with courses that can range from the sedate to the blood pumping. Historians can board the WightDiver boat to visit the shipwrecks provided by Portsmouth’s colourful maritime past, while RYA shore-based courses provide a practical foundation full of boating know-how.
Whether new to the sport or simply in need of a refresher, participants choose their boat from a selection ranging from closed cockpit kayaks to Canadian canoes. The first hour will be spent on theory, including a safety briefing, the lowdown on all the necessary equipment, as well a spot of paperwork. Kayakers then get out on the water for an hour of expert-guided paddling.
