Captained by a chef with 18 years' experience in honing his culinary craft, New Rimjhim dishes up contemporary Indian food alongside the marina at Port Solent’s peaceful boardwalk. Quietly garnering respect for its freshly-cooked food and attentive service, the restaurant is painted in earthy terracotta tones and filled with the fragrant scents of simmering spices.

Two or four diners can tuck in to a starter such as the pan-fried sweet potato cakes matured with coriander, dill, and tamarind served with spicy yoghurt (£4.25), or the black tiger prawns sautéed with garlic and chilli, finished with coconut and fresh basil (£6.25). A fluffy mound of rice each (up to £3.95) provides a base for a main course such as king prawn biryani (£11.95), or the lamb jalfrezi (£8.45). One side dish between two can also be selected from a choice including Bombay potatoes (£3.95) or sag panir (£4.95). Diners can then tear and share the sweet spiced folds of a naan such as cheese and chilli or peshawari to mop up any leftovers (£2.95).

Reviews

Thanks to the fresh food and attentive staff, Rimjhim has been placed in the top 15 restaurants in Portsmouth on TripAdivsor.

Throughout the evening, service was of a very high standard... Our dishes very flavoursome & artistically presented... Impressed! We would say that Rimjhim is in another league compared to other Indian restaurants within the area and we will definitely be recommending to friends.
Rachael_Bull, TripAdvisor, March 2012

Rimjhim is a nice change from the standard curry house, with interesting dishes and well thought out presentation. The currys taste like they have been made with a fresh spice/herb paste, and are not at all oily or processed as so many are these days.
