Bringing the titillating flavours of the Spanish palate to Southsea, Sant-Yago serves up Mediterranean cuisine and a fusion of carefully crafted cocktails. A short flamenco from the seafront, the restaurant and bar envelopes warm surroundings with its sizzling smells, with the menu a jigsaw of tapas plates and classic seafood dishes.
Seating patrons with a friendly ‘hola’, waiters will hand over the menu from which diners can choose one plate of tapas, a salad, and a side, or alternatively, select a paella to share with a salad each. White asparagus and vinaigrette drizzle (£3.95) and goats’ cheese and cherry tomato pesto (£3.55) are among the salad servings, with marinated olives (£2.55), tomato bread (£2.45), and garlic bread (£2.25) sprinkling the sides. Paellas are served between two, with chicken, pork, and beef or a mixed seafood (both £7.95 per person) styles on the menu, and each diner can sup their supper with a classic mojito (£4.95).

Although not widely reviewed at present, Sant-Yago has received some very encouraging reviews from diners who appreciated the eatery’s fresh take on Spanish cuisine. In addition, the restaurant currently has over 300 Likes on Facebook.
We discovered this new restaurant earlier in the Summer, when it had just opened. We were literally walking along the street, and were handed a discount leaflet...walked in and have been back several times since. It is a well run, lovely restaurant, another independent battling against the chains sadly. It is slightly off the beaten track, in Southsea, but hopefully will get better known soon. We would describe it as authentic Spanish tapas. Lovely food, good value, and good customer service. They do great cocktails, too! We had a nice chat with the owner recently and we think this restaurant can meet a niche: pretty informal, but good quality food. And it definitely beats La Tasca, even though I would accept the chain as O.K....but not a patch on Sant-Yago.
