The cosy interior shows off its historic prowess with of-the-era oak beams and a double-sided fireplace, while classic dishes such as fish and chips and sausages and mash are dished up with a sophisticated spin. An appealing atmosphere warms the pub, and food is cooked by an experienced chef as guests feast their eyes on the sweeping farmland just outside the window.
Pairs can have their fancies tickled with a starter each (£5), perhaps choosing the salmon and dill fishcake served with a caper sauce, or warm duck confit salad with local chutney. Moving on to main course choices (£10), diners may feast on balsamic glazed salmon fillet served on a bed of baby-leaf salad and wild rice, or lamb shank on a bed of creamed potatoes with a colourful jumble of market vegetables.
