Blazing a culinary trail for 30 years as founding restaurant of the Spice Merchant Group, Cookham Tandoori boasts a team of Oberoi-trained chefs, specialising in traditional pot-cooking and flame-grilling techniques. Set in a converted 15th century coach house, and offering a range of fish- and veggie-eater friendly foodstuffs, the restaurant offers an intimate dining experience for spice savourers across the spectrum.
Peckish pairs can begin their culinary journey by munching on a starter such as sheek kebab (£5.95); chicken or lamb tikka (£4.95); or chicken liver with salad (£6.95). Sizzle satisfaction can continue with a choice of mains, including a grilled lamb rezalla, cooked in a tangy lemon sauce with fresh chillies (£8.95); a lamb biryani with basmati rice, herbs and spices, served with an accompanying veggie curry (£14.95); or a tandoor-grilled shashlick of lamb or chicken immersed in herbs and spices with peppers, onions and tomatoes (£10.95). Given a rice or naan dish each, such as the peshwari naan (£3.95), curry connoisseurs can also share a choice of vegetable side dish between two, such as sag aloo (£4.95). Finally, patrons can answer sweet cravings with desserts such as chocolate fudge cake (£6.95); or the syrup-spun Gulab Jamun (£6.95).
