Birds soar and arrows score at Fallow Fields Falconry, where a full nest of activities including ferret racing are offered up in the lush and peaceful surroundings of the Cotswold countryside. While there are several bird experiences on offer at the centre, feathers aid flight in a different way at the team’s archery facility, as full introductions to the history and techniques of this ancient skill are offered to maids and merry men.
Professional archer Neil Holt hits the bullseye as he introduces his craft in the two hour introduction. The lesson covers the history of archery, explanation of the bow and arrow and, after some safety instruction, a chance to try shooting. Students will then be introduced to other bow styles such as the crossbow and longbow, before finishing up with some more practice to improve accuracy.
