Along with limiting stone throwing abilities, living in a glass house can make hiding from nosy neighbours near impossible. Shine some light on glass mastery with today’s Groupon: £19 for a neon glass making workshop at Neon Workshops.
Enlightening the masses in the art of neon creation, Neon Workshops shatter creative glass ceilings with their crafting of unique and innovative glass sculptures. The workshop also doubles as a gallery, showcasing the latest achievements in neon art and also holding lectures from experienced artists. Budding glass blowers are offered professionally taught classes including one day intensive sessions, with the opportunity to hire the workshop to hone their new craft.

Students will participate in a two and a half hour neon taster workshop, with glowing works of art explained by experts and mesmerising demonstrations. From cutting to blowing, stretching to bending, the course will detail every step on neon creation ending in the glass being fused with flame, filled with gas and illuminated with electricity. Students will create their very own glass bends under expert tuition, taking home their creation glowing with pride. Those who acquire a taste for sculpture creation will also receive 20% off an intensive one-day course.
Reviews
While yet to be widely reviewed, Neon Workshops has attracted favourable press from The Leeds Guide.
Neon is a weird and wonderful material. It somehow manages to be both futuristic and retro at the same time – a glimpse of the future and reminder of the past ... So, if you want to create something beautiful – or just see your name in lights – while learning more about the luminous world of neon light, come along to the creative and practical Neon Workshops, held regularly in Wakefield, West Yorkshire ... – The Leeds Guide, Dec 2010
