"Mama, I love you, Mama, I care." Come on,
sing-along with this karaoke version of the Spice Girls! What's that? You don't want to sing?
You'd rather get an amazing 4 course meal for two for only £5 instead? Oh well, we live to serve.
Today's Groupon is for UK Mama, the first African/Caribbean restaurant and takeaway in the
history of Yorkshire. The food is high quality, healthy, wholesome and creative, with mouth
watering tasty dishes encompassing all African countries; plus a generous sprinkling of Caribbean fare.
Starters include king prawns or fried sweet potato. For the main why not choose the classic
Jerk chicken, delicately seasoned and sauted in special spices. Accompany this with the delectable Jallof rice.
Vegetarians might want to try the
Dodo (that's not the extinct bird, because you're a vegetarian... and it's extinct). Dodo is
fried ripe plantain with beans and pepper sauce - yum! The desserts are truly indulgent, but
our pick is the nawabi kulfi - luxurious saffron flavour ice cream, with saffron syrup topped
with chopped nuts.
Special entertainment includes the occasional
steel band, African drummers, Limbo music and dancing with the staff wearing their African -
Caribbean festive costumes (Royal Regalia). The restaurant is renowned for its friendly and
homely atmosphere as well as its quality, healthy cuisine. The walls and tables are decorated
with African carvings which, along with the reliable, helpful staff and the healthy food, will
help make your day. But can they do a steel drum version of the Spice Girls?
What people are saying...
"Great food and so much of it too. Went for my birthday and all four of us went for the 'try a
bit of everything' option and the food just kept coming, one great way to discover the range
of cuisine on offer and exceptionally good value too. The doggy bag kept two of us going for
the next two days at least."
