Stirring the senses with simmering pots of goat curry and sizzling fillets of saltfish, Veranda plates up authentic Caribbean cuisine and a vibrant parade of cocktails – as well as paying homage to local artists with an in-house art gallery – from its Brixton location.
Venturing into the world of the exotic, starters may include the likes of the Jamaican king prawns served on a three pepper salsa (£9.99) or the grilled goats cheese topped with caramelised red onion (£4.99). Taste buds will delve deeper into the Caribbean with a main course such as the hearty 8oz pepper steak served with new potatoes, mushrooms, sun-blushed tomatoes, asparagus shoots, and port veal jus (£17.99), or perhaps the traditional taste of the goat curry paired with spinach (£12.99). Travels will meet a sweet ending with a dessert, with nectarous nibbles coming in the shape of tropical fruit crumble, banana bread, and carrot cake (up to £4.99).
