In a quiet mews behind the High Road in Streatham this live music club is a riot of soul, funk, R&B, latin and reggae. It was also voted Venue of the Year in the Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2011. Its swinging line-up of performers are the heart and soul of the party, with new talent bebopping alongside jazz and blues stars. Monday nights are sweet and spicy with salsa classes and jam sessions, while Fridays are fuelled by giggles as young comedians swing by on the stand-up circuit. Thursdays are a musical haven while Sunday lunch and evening speakeasy allow guests to drift into next week on a sea of blues.
While enjoying all that jazz, duos can tuck in to a two course meal, sampling a tasty intro such as hummus, guacamole and tsatziki dips served with toasted pitta bread, or skip to mains including Thai fish curry or traditional sausage and mash. Lovers of sweet music and delicious dessert can string out a citrus cheesecake or an apple and pear crumble. Meals are accompanied by a bourbon cocktail for a sip of New Orleans, or a choice of wine or beer.
