Despite their popularity as musicians, most birds cannot carry a tuna, which makes it impossible to improve on their scales, especially the minah ones. Taste the bass with today’s Groupon: for £24 instead of up to £75.10, get live music and a two course meal for two people and a glass of wine each at Hideaway.
This jazz, swing, soul and blues club’s blaring triumphs got it voted 2011 venue of the year in the Parliamentary Jazz Awards. Sequestered as it is in a quiet mews behind Streathams High Road, stumbling on this one-barred blues club feels as sharply accidental but joyfully appropriate as a royal function invitation for Duke Ellington. Experienced Bone moaners, hapslapping bassists and new sax squiggling talents regularly Snatchmo’ fascinating rhythms from the past, while cutting grooves of their own into Jazz’s constantly evolving forms. Hideaway’s restaurant is also a major riff; its modern menu mutely supplying, wherever possible, locally sourced and organic produce with soft chords of international and british flavours improvised on.

A pair of Groupon Vamps or Grands can get a wiggle on watching jazz, swing, soul and blues live as an electrified bass string, quavering for more in the interval, and chowing down on a two course meal consisting of a melodic main, dessert, and a glass of wine each. Guests can bite into Birdland with a traditional but undiminished chicken caesar salad (£13.95) or tarragon marinated pan-fried prawns (£10.95). Desserts include strawberry cheesecake with kiwi coulis (£5.95), or chocolate fudge and hazelnut brownie (£5.50), while an extensive wine list proffers notes as varied as the vibe.

Had a wonderful evening at the Hideaway. This is a special venue, lots of atmosphere, very comfortable and we all enjoyed the slinky jazz. The food was good too.

This is a fantastic venue - really great for Streatham. There is a wide selection of live music including jazz, latin, blues and soul. Great atmosphere with excellent food and friendly service.
