They say that when in Rome, you must do what the Romans do, but walking around for hours on end can get tiresome. Roam free with language with today’s Groupon: £29 for an Italian dessert cookery class with a basic language lesson at Osteria dell’Arte with Languages Alive.
Reconstructing la dolce vita for sweet-toothed gourmands and Italophiles alike, Languages Alive specialise in fun new ways to learn another language. Utilising a dynamic approach to education, the native tutors afford students the confidence to wrap their lingua around language linguine. Founded by Raffaela Palumbo, the centrally-located school is dedicated to teaching children and adults the basics of Italian cuisine and conversation at the same time.
Sessions typically last around two hours and are held on the premises of Osteria dell’Arte on Clapham High Street. Combining preliminary lessons in Italian conversation with the cuisine of the boot nation, the tutor guides you through one of the most historically-rich countries. Secrets from nonna’s kitchen are revealed as budding master chefs learn to make biscotti al vino, chocolate ciambellone and a tiramisu. With a glass of fragolino in hand, students can sample their pastries before bidding arriverderci to Raffaela.
