The experienced tutors on hand at City Photography School will put students through their paces in a three hour on-location studious shoot. Beginners will discover the technicalities of focus, ISO, shutter speeds and aperture, and are invited to aim all their digital queries at the professional instructor.

Things will get a bit more technical in the intermediate class, which covers natural lighting and reflectors. Photographers will also be introduced toto filters, daylight control, long exposure and colour balancing. Both classes meet at Waterloo station to take snaps of the surrounding area, resulting in some eye-catching images and improved aim.

Groupon Asks

Groupon finds out what's going down behind the scenes at City Photography School, and how students can benefit from walking shoes and smart phones.

What is the school's approach to photography?
Classes are run by professional photographers who are bursting with knowledge and experience. Sessions can be tailored to beginners or those looking to hone their existing skills. A lot of the sessions are on location around London and are designed to be practical, hands on and fun.

What kind of classes are available?
As well as the standard skills workshops there are evening sessions that focus on the lighting of the city. There is also street art photography which allows guests to get artsy in East London, and classes to help clients get great images from their smart phones.

What equipment do students need?
Students should bring their own DSLR or bridge camera, or a compact camera will do as long as it has an A/AV or S/TV setting. They should also make sure that the camera is fully charged, and loaded with an empty memory card. If the class is outside, then customers are advised to check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.
