These Kocoons offers an alternative to the traditional sodden tent based adventures in country fields, taking the rough edge off a nature slumber. Campers can stay in a wooden Kocoon: designed much like a tent, these capsules are more comfortable, insulated, require no putting up and sport solar powered lights for midnight snack finding assistance. Nature lovers can choose three nights between Sunday and Thursday, or stay on Friday and Saturday. Woodland guests can indulge with a complimentary two hour pass to the nearby Dalhousie Castle 4 star spa, as well as an hour in the Meadow’s hot tub. On-site toilet and wash facilities and a range of optional extras such as a cooked Scottish breakfast (£6pp) or BBQ facilities should ensure happy camping.

Reviews

Most reviews have been positive, with guests noting the welcoming and friendly staff at Adventure in the Meadow. TripAdvisor users scored an average of 4/5, while comments from Booking.com reviewers were also largely favourable.

From the moment we arrived we received [sic] a very warm welcome and were made to feel very much at home. The accommodation itself is basic, but in a good way its like camping with the bonus of having no chance of getting wet, and you know that youre [sic] gear is secure. I am over 6ft and had no trouble settling in. The place is only a short drive to a park and ride so getting into edinburgh [sic] is very easy, but the grounds makes you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere so you can enjoy the peace. [sic]

Staff were lovely, talkative, and keen to tell of local sights and amenities. Pods were absolutely amazing, perfect for those who love to camp, but would like a little bit of extra comfort. The whole camping feel was kept alive by the estate being off the main road and the pods being a slight distance from the Hotel itself, allowing you to imagine that you are actually going it rough. Facilities were top notch, toilets were clean and showers had instant hot water.
