A country stroll is one of the things Britons love best, unlike the country’s troll, which is shunned into mythical existence in trumped up fairytales or sold into slavery as a mascot at showpiece sporting occasions. Get ogre the hills and far away with today’s Groupon: £53 for a one night stay for two people including cream tea and full breakfast at The Dog and Partridge Country Inn .
Nestled snugly on the border of Staffordshire and Derbyshire, The Dog and Partridge Country Inn offers a sleepy slice of country life and a laid back launching pad for exploring the picture perfect pleasures of the Peak District. The inn is an atmospheric retreat dating back to the 17th century, and yet modern desires are catered for with purpose-built accommodation, hot tub and well-stocked bar available. Matlock Bath, Chatsworth House, and the market town of Ashbourne are all just a few furlongs away, while thrill seekers looking to swap rural relaxation for rampant rollercoasting have nearby Alton Towers to look forward, upward and terrifyingly downward to.
Getaway Groupon holders can revel in rural charm with a one night stay including breakfast and cream tea at The Dog and Partridge Country Inn. Rooms are en suite and come complete with Freeview TV and DVD facilities along with an unflinchingly obedient personal tea and coffee maker. Intrepid travellers will be greeted by a classic cream tea whipped up on arrival and seen off with a full cooked breakfast and late check out (midday) in the morning, leaving plenty of time to explore the local surrounds.

We arrived late at night and although we were the Inn's final guests for the evening we were greeted as warmly as if we had been their first. We all loved the decor of the main bar and restaurant - a welcome change from the usual corporate chic blandness of modern hotels.

We had a nice night's stay at the Dog and Partridge and were particularly struck by how helpful the host family were. They made us feel very welcome and were very helpful with providing advice and directions for family things to do in the area on a cold winter's day.
