Chick pea is an ingredient of hummus, falafel, and accidents involving baby hens. Chick out today’s Groupon: £49 for a six course Lebanese tasting menu with wine and cocktails plus belly dancing and burlesque show for two at Layalina.

The appealing aromas of Middle Eastern cuisine gather at Knightsbridge’s Layalina, where a contemporary take on Lebanese cuisine sits along with an extensive list of cocktails and wine. The kitchen is led by head chef Joseph Chahine, who uses his years of experience to formulate delectable hot and cold mezes, marinated skewers, and tantalising desserts. Belly dancers provide the live entertainment, which continues into the night at Privée, Layalina's adjoining cocktail lounge, which boasts an ever-changing menu of cocktails made by whiz mixologists.

Layalina’s Burlesque Night Out combines food and entertainment into one neat, digestible package. Upon arrival at 6pm, diners will receive a champagne cocktail each, before embarking on the six course tasting journey. Guests will start with cold and hot mezzes, including lamb pastry parcels filled with seasoned minced lamb and pine nuts. After a fatoush salad, the main dish will arrive, with highlights such as roast chicken, decorated with a bouquet garni, and served over oriental lamb rice, gravy sauce and mixed nuts. Ice cream, baklawas, and tea or coffee follow, and all are washed down with half a bottle of house wine each. After a mesmerising belly dance show, fun-loving patrons will be welcomed into Privée with another cocktail, in time to catch the Cabaret Rouge burlesque show. The club is open until 1.30am, and guests are invited to stay as long as they like.

Me and a group of friends visited Layalina after a long days shopping, the staff where very accommodating to our party of 15, we didn’t ring to reserve a table but we where [sic] seated within 5 mins, the food was well cooked and very enjoyable and so was the entertainment. The staff where friendly and we really enjoyed ourselves .

My wife and I ate here by chance, but we loved our meal and would highly recommend this to anyone who likes Middle Eastern food but is bored by its sameness. Layalina offers a modern interpretation of the classic dishes, and we found it terrific. It is well worth the price, and you will find yourself discovering whole new interpretations of classic Lebanese cuisine.
