Although mixing and matching beets can be a challenging game, the introduction of carrots and parsnips is the way to really turntables. Get to the root of DJing with today’s Groupon: £69 for a six-hour DJ course with London School of DJing.
Diffusing the art of mixing beats and cutting tracks is the aim of the game at London School of DJing, which teaches the skills of the modern DJ to aspiring artists of all ages. Whether budding beat-matchers are after rigorous training or just a bit of fun, they’ll learn to mix and match their favourite songs with guidance of DJ Double A Ron, who has international experience with a wide range of music. The school is located at the prestigious Grove Music Studios in Notting Hill.
DJs in development will benefit from a six hour class in CD and vinyl disc jockeying with DJ Double A Ron, either at beginner or intermediate level. Learners will begin their journey with a session in pitch matching, beat mixing, song structure, bars and patterns, and a tutorial on the equipment. But that’s just scratching the surface of the record. The next three hours will focus on crossover, balancing frequencies (EQ), tricks, and the psychology of the audience. While the school will provide house music to practise with, students are welcome to bring their own music if they have different tastes. After the session, graduates of the course will be awarded a certificate and a How To DJ eBook, and will be welcome to call the centre if follow up advice is needed.
