Hunger, unlike credit card bills, asbestos in the home, and restraining orders, is not something you can safely ignore. Answer the mighty call of a bellowing belly with today’s Groupon: for £21.90 you and another can dine on mouth watering French inspired fare, with any starter and main from the lunch and dinner menu at The Sydney Arms Pub and Brasserie, with a carafe of wine.

Located just a stone's throw from the world famous, culture melting pot, the Kings Road in Chelsea, The Sydney Arms is a new breed of traditional pub, specialising in freshly prepared food, sourced from local, top quality suppliers together with fine beers, ales, wines, spirits, teas and coffees. Make yourself at home by sitting at the long blood-red banquettes, or at the rustic wooden tables and high-tops wrapping around the small, traditional golden bar. Or, try the front of the bar with its large windows that open out on to terrace seating that’s ideally positioned for sun-seekers (on cooler days you can hideaway in the little nooks and crannies inside). The polished brass fixtures, gilded mirrors, intricate lanterns and scrawled chalkboards add a touch of Parisian brasserie chic, while the traditional pub setting and the English aspects of the menu add a good old dash of Britishness.

Groupon gastromeneres can fix their stomach’s spooky echo by filling it with a host of delectable entrees such as chilli salt and pepper baby squid, served with a sweet chilli dressing (£5.90), castle bay, breaded scampi with lemon mayonnaise (£5.90) or half a pint of Newmarket sausages with mustard mayo (£4.90). For the mains, tantalise lovelorn taste buds with a hearty slab of meat; entrecote steak frites, 21 day aged 8oz sirloin steak, served with béarnaise or pepper sauce (£14.90) or the steak minute frites, a classic thin steak served with cafe de Paris butter and frites (£14.50). Aquatic fodder comes in the form of the Timothy Taylor battered haddock, salt and vinegerd chips, tartare sauce and peas (£10.90) or the grilled fresh tune Nicoise salad, with new potatoes, green beans, olives, cherry tomatoes and sliced boiled egg (£11.90). For those with herbivorous inclinations there's meat-free fancies such as grilled halloumi cheese and asparagus salad, with sun dried tomatoes and poached egg (£11.50). Reviews

Since its launch in 2010 the Sydney Arms has not yet received a large number of reviews. However particular mention has been given to the duck egg scotch eggs and ViewLondon gave the pub a score of four stars out of five.

It has been given a makeover with new décor and large opening windows which are lovely. There is an excellent range of ales on tap with Timothy Taylor's Landlord and Harvey's Bitter being but regulars. The food is noteworthy - don't forget to try the delicious tomato ketchup.
Radnor, FancyaPint, May 2010

Refined and relaxed – the Sydney Arms is one of the better places to stop in Chelsea for fine wine and nice nosh, without the snobbery.
