As most professional falconers will agree, it’s easier to be a high flyer when you aren’t tied to the post. Reach your beak with today’s Groupon from Bolton Castle. Choose from the following options:• £16 for a Hawk Walk for two people (60% off)
• £55 for a Falconer-for-a-Day experience for two people (63% off)
Housing everything from weddings to wild boar, the castle is a crenelated monument to mystery and history, where owls are trained, children attend medieval feasts, and knights battle dragons. This medieval castle has been passed down through generations since building in 1379 and is still thriving today, having once housed the imprisoned Mary Queen of Scots . Nowadays, the castle sheds light on its past with photo shoot and educational opportunities, while hosting plays, re-enactments, and family activities.
Designed for two to enjoy, a Falconer-for-a-Day experience gives a taste of hawk handling, flying, and management, over seven hours. For an equally uplifting experience lasting up to an hour, a pair of guests can opt for a Hawk Walk, strolling through stunning Yorkshire countryside, with a Harris Hawk flying to and from their fist. Lunch can be purchased in the tea room, or guests can bring it with them.
While still waiting for widespread review, Bolton Castle received a well-fortified 5/5 from TripAdvisor users. Visitors gave special mention to the castle’s mix of ruins, restored and preserved rooms to explore, and the range of activities in the grounds.
The castle is almost completely in tact [sic] and there was so much to see walking round the castle. We also watched the owl/hawk display where you get a chance to hold the birds, the archery demonstation [sic] where you can have a go, a falconry display and boar-feeding. It was all very entertaining and interesting.

The castle and castle grounds are amazing. The enactments are also worthwhile. The falconry displays are fun to watch as well.
