Not to be confused with the Indian instrument, a tabla is when pub regulars attempt to pay their bills with song. Enjoy tastes worth singing about with today’s Groupon: £5 for an Indian curry meal for two at Bombay Spice.
Taking inspiration from the culinary hotbeds of India and Bangladesh, Bombay Spice tempts taste-seekers with a vibrant array of flavoursome cuisine from York’s historic, winding streets. Deep red hues, aged wooden finishes and elegant high-back seating fill the dining area, while the piquant aromas of the menu populate the air. The menu features a delicious selection of rich curries and aromatic classics ranging from hearty baltis to marinated tandoori grills.
Stepping over the Bombay Spice threshold and into another culinary continent, hungry pairings can tickle taste buds with a choice of classic curry dishes. Choices range from the fiery delights of chicken vindaloo (£6.95) to the subtle savours of the lamb korma (£6.95) or the vegetable and prawn mayala (both £6.95). Alternatively, the original value of the voucher can be used toward items from the à la carte menu, which features an extensive range of traditional tastes and innovative flavour creations.
Bombay Spice has earned an appetising range of encouraging reviews from visitors who have been satisfied by their dining experience. While some note that service can suffer during busy periods, comments are overall very positive, celebrating in particular the welcoming atmosphere and fresh take on Indian cuisine.
Service was good. The food was excellent. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant. Prices were reasonable. I would happily eat there again and would also recommend it to friends. My partner even said it was one of his top five Indian restaurants in York!

Nice buzzy atmosphere. The menu has plenty of variety and the food was good… This place is unpretentious, knows what it's good at but still offers numerous dishes beyond the standard Vindaloo/ Madras/ Korma options… A drink on the house was the icing on the cake!
