Marrying Northern conviviality with Italian culinary passion, the restaurant often plays host to the illustrious Ghost Walker and raconteur Trevor Rooney, seen supping in frock coat and highwayman hat between terrifying town tours. Under the gargantuan sandstone spires of the once lightning-destroyed Minster and along the famous cobbles of The Shambles, Squire Rooney has spent the last 30 years sharing the rich and gruesome histories of York’s ghostly residents.
Starting at 7.30pm on every day of the year whatever the weather, Trevor Rooney can guide ghost investigators through the windy arteries in the heart of York. After about an hour, the two walkers can head to La Vecchia Scuola at around 8.45pm for a two course Italian meal consisting of a starter and a main course selected from the Ghost Walk Menu.
