La Vecchia Scuola backdrops its Regency dining area with a dazzling conservatory which overlooks the ecclesiastical gardens of the Petergate area. Speckled with familiar favourites and specialities, the menu is refreshingly complemented by an extensive wine list of fine continental reds and whites.
Taking seats for an afternoon or evening bite, visiting epicures can peruse a colourful menu of freshly-made pizzas and pastas. A romana (£7.95) will treat diners to a slice of delight with toppings such as Italian sausage and pancetta, while discerning herbivores may opt for the vegetariana (£7.95), which is adorned with olive oil and mixed grilled vegetables. Pasta-lovers can give forks a twirl with a classic spaghetti alla Bolognese (£7.95) garnished with herbs and parmesan, or perhaps tuck into a penne al broccolo (£7.95) with chicken and broccoli in a garlic and cream sauce.

This is our favourite restaurant in York, the food is always spot on, teh place is clean tidy. Sit in the conservatry if you can, you look out onto the garden and it is nice. You wouldnt belive you were in the middle of a hustle and bustleing city eating in here, its ever so calm. [sic]
