Shored up on a cobbled Whitby street, the White Horse & Griffin is harmonised with traditional British fare, cosy B&B accommodation, and nearby holiday cottages. Finely tuned with original features, ornate chandeliers, and open fires, rustic charm extends through the establishments all the way to it’s dining quarters. Using locally sourced produce where possible, the eatery serves up succulent beef, pork, and lamb dishes, while carefully selecting catches of the day from deliveries made to the town by local fisherman.

British banqueteers can feast on a main course each, include an a cappella of classic dishes such as the steam-cooked Shetland Isle mussels drizzled in a banana shallots, white wine, and cream sauce (£13.95) bring the sea to the table, while puy lentil and mushroom ragu pancakes (£15.95) sate veggie-orientated palates. Culinary melodies can also be accompanied by starters, desserts, and a selection of tipples at regular rates.

Starters were plentiful and tasty and we had a shared platter of fillet of North Yorkshire beef as main and were served a huge platter with a piece of sliced fillet at each end, mine beautifully rare, his thoroughly well done, both with bearnaise sauce. In the middle was a mountain of fresh veg, cauliflower, french beans, carrot and swede and buttery new potatoes. We we [sic] also given a large bowl of skin-on chips which were wonderful, crisp on the outside and floury inside.
