Cottonworth is a family-run farm and vineyard based in Hampshire between Stockbridge and Andover. The owner's son, Hugh, runs the wine enterprise, having planted the family's first vines in 2005 after working for a wine producer in Burgundy, France. He worked on vineyards in New Zealand and South Africa before attending Plumpton College to gain a degree in Viticulture and Oenology. In addition to its vineyards, the farm provides a haven for fishing and wildlife.
Had a really good tour and a fabulous lunch
Fantastic experience. Learnt lots about the history as well as sampling the sparkling wines. Frederico was a great host, very informative and extremely friendly. Would definitely recommend and revisit.
Their passion for their products shines through.
A great experience.
Fantastic visit to the vineyard. We apent a suler afternoon at the vineyard and learnt alot about the wine making process and the wines.
Hi folks, we went on a gloriously bright day, not too hot, in Autumn and it was great. But do take a brolly if the weather is inclement. You won’t want to miss a single moment! Enjoy!
Very informative and enjoyable trip with good buffet lunch and nice wines
Only one person to show over 40 people around, a quick trip up to the vineyard. Nice wines. Buffet served but mad rush by most of the guests leaving scraps for the last people up! The member of staff now too busy selling wine to people who were leaving so unable to ask for more food. .... Contacted vineyard who weren't interested, more interested in telling me that they don't make any money doing the groupon deal!!
A very lucid talk by their Italian speaking wine expert, and a really good lunch afterwards. Both the food and the wine tastings were generous and of high quality.
The 35 acres of vines were beautifully managed. They also have two vinyards in France, also smallish operations, and we sampled their wines too. However, the French offerings were very pricey indeed at nearly £30 per bottle.
We did buy two of their very nice English sparkling wines afterwards, but at nearly £30 each they too were a little expensive we thought. This is no doubt due to the fact that the Cottonworth Vinyard is quite a small winery in the market and both their production and bottling have to be contracted out to a much larger concern near Alresford it seems, no doubt at a high cost.
For the experience and really excellent lunch a deal through Groupon is very good value indeed. Almost good enough to award a 5 out of 5, but for the rather expensive purchases afterwards, not that there was any sales pressure at all to buy at the end of our visit.
Very informative tour, lovely lunch and great wine tasting
