Set within the verdant North Wessex Down, the family-run Esseborne Manor combines original Victorian features with all the home comforts. A 12-minute drive leads to Highclere Castle, the site of ITV’s Downton Abbey, while in the opposite direction lies the historic market town of Andover, where attractions include the Hawk Conservancy Trust and Museum. Each of the bedrooms overlook the manor’s gardens, and feature double beds, en suite facilities and telephones. Little extras, such as a trouser press, information on the local area, and home made biscuits, are also supplied to guests. The seven-course tasting menu will take place in the award-winning Courtyard Restaurant, the recipient of two AA rosettes. Those opting to stay two nights will enjoy the meal on their first night, and, if choosing to dine in the restaurant again on the second day, will receive a complimentary glass of Prosecco each. Golf enthusiasts can sneak in some practise with a round at the nearby Hampshire Golf Club, which consists of both par 3 and par 4 holes.
