Bella Italia prides itself on sourcing authentic Italian ingredients for their traditional cuisine. They import pasta from the Gaetarelli family near Lake Garda, tomato sauce from the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy, and cured meats from the Fontana family. Opened in 1991, Bella Italia boasts eateries across the length and breadth of England, including the cities of London, Manchester, Leeds and Oxford. Their menu features a wide range of pizzas, pastas, and Italian Classics, with an array of wine available to pair with any dish. The restaurants' interiors are styled in a quirky Mediterranean design, with many featuring Vespas and cosy booths.
Booked a table for 8.00 on a Wednesday evening, didn't look too busy when we arrived. Shown to our table by the man behind the bar, then we waited, eventually we were given ' Groupon ' menu and waited for our order to be taken. We noticed that when other diners left, the tables were not cleared for the next people, so we were surrounded by a lot of dirty tables. Our meals were very nice & plenty of it, after waiting for the waitress bring over dessert menu we had said if we hadn't paid for 3 courses by now we would of left. We chose our desserts and then another long wait, when the desserts were placed on our table I asked for the bill (we had to pay for 2 drinks) the bill was given to us, when I went to give her the money, she said I can't take it give it to your waitress which I replied yes that is you! but I still had to go and find her round the restaurant to pay.
Sorry would not book again at Bella Italia at Basildon.
the starter and sweet was ok our main courses were just full of pasta and rissotto and hardly any meat and seafood. It diddnt really awe us to want to go back again been to better places to be fair
My family sat for over 3 hours! The service was appalling, the food came up intermittently, some hot, some stone cold, some not at all. 22 empty glasses never collected, sat on the table through out. A piece of food packet left in a dessert, showed the waiter, “ that’s no problem, it’s from the sauce” really? DONT waste your money, there are much better places that serve pasta around.
We had a great meal, and the waitress was friendly and attentive.
Basildon Bella Italia
Very poor service, surly and impolite staff.
Food not as described on the menu.
Complained to Head Office, was eventually given a £10 voucher, to use in Bella Italia.
Doubt we will go back, as it was nothing special.
