From Our Editors

First established in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisanal baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie, whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with the 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly-made cakes, craft pastries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose-leaf teas. Their specialities include meticulously-crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato.

Quality of food excellent and just the right amount. Fruit AND plain scones which other providers should taken note of. Not everyone likes fruit scones! Only a few venues in London where Prosecco option available so make sure you check. Ours was a bit cramped but staff very friendly and helpful. Overall a good experience and would go again.

No vegetarian sandwiches on both occasions! I won’t be going again!

No need to book which was brilliant. On arrival we received a good welcome and the food and service were excellent. No hesitation in recommending.

I went to Patisserie Valerie on Saturday and wasn't that impressed to be honest. The sandwiches were not particularly nice. We were given the Christmas selection where as i had bought a voucher for normal selection. We had brie and cranberry and turkey and cranberry, two of our party don't like cranberry i ended up eating all these. The cakes were nice but why is there only one of each except the eclairs? The scones were very flat but they tasted ok, not the best I've ever had but ok. I won't bother going again which is a shame as the last time i went it was really nice.

The basildon store that we used was ok but definitely wouldn’t ‘write home’ about it. The scones were like rocks and had what tasted like a plastic coating on the bottom, the bread from the sandwiches tasted like they had been left out for some time and the tarts were excess salty

Food was really good, they catered to my food intolerance. Quiche were still warm and the pastry crumbled in the mouth scones were warm and were light and delicious to eat, the cakes offered were of a good variety and having refills of hot chocolate and tea made the whole experience delightful. I would recommend this to all my family and friends
