From Our Editors

First opened its doors in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisanal baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with a 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly made cakes, craft pastries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose-leaf teas. Their specialities include meticulously crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato.

Unlimited tea and coffee, which is rare with afternoon tea anywhere. Cakes and sandwiches (choice of fillings) were lovely and fresh. Place was very clean and staff attentive.

Easy to book a table at my local patisserie Valerie but when we got there it was very busy & no table had been reserved so we were crammed in almost sharing a table with those next to us! The food was lovely.

My last experience at Patisserie Valerie (Lakeside) was a poor one. I complained and all I got was a voucher for two free beverages. I did not redeem these as I saw it as an insult to what I had complained about. However I decided that I was going to give Patisserie Valerie another go. I'm pleased I did. I visited the Spitalfields branch and they couldn't do more for us. The service was great. The afternoon tea was good. The ambience was lovely. Excellent all around

Rude staff had a strop when i told them i had a nut allergy actually throw her arms to her side and huffed .refused to tell me if any contained nuts so couldnt eat any thing. Actually Chucked cups at us for tea which were filthy.totaly ruined what should have been a nice day and more to the point could have been deadly to someone with a allergy which they seem to think is a choice to be awkward rather than a medical need.worse experience ever
