From Our Editors

First opened its doors in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisanal baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with a 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly made cakes, craft pastries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose-leaf teas. Their specialities include meticulously crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato.

Food and service were great but I ordered the sparkling afternoon tea and thought it was strange that we didn’t get our prosecco with the afternoon tea. When we asked for it, we were told that they had no licence to sell or have alcohol on the premises! We would have booked another place if this was the case as we went for a celebration and wanted to toast our event.

It was OK went as people had told how nice the cakes were, but to be honest I found them lacking in flavour and was disappointed I've had better cream teas

The sandwiches were not fresh, no cream or butter given with the scones ... very disappointed as this was a mother’s day gift .
