In the quaint market place of Middleton-in-Teesdale, The Forresters Hotel & Restaurant blends traditional countryside hospitality with cosy contemporary touches. Eight rooms are individually styled, while some feature double levels and private staircases. The bar features alfresco seating at the front, while a riverside terrace overlooks the Hudeshone Beck as it trickles past to meet the Tees. The kitchen uses locally-sourced ingredients where possible, and also served homemade ice-cream, desserts and chutneys. River paths and rural roads make for all manner of countryside strolls and other outdoor activities, while the 12th century fortress of Barnard Castle is less than a 20-minute drive away.
