From Our Editors

El Puerto brings the flavours of the Spanish cuisine to the heart of Bristol. Situated close to The Grove this Grade II-listed historical harbourside building, the restaurant invites guests to its rustic interior, featuring wooden tables and warm colour schemes. Patrons can tuck into an extensive choice of tapas, including Spanish omelette, grilled pork, and deep-fried potatoes, among others. The kitchen also prepares traditional paellas with cured meats, seafood, or vegetables. Dinners can be complemented with an array of beer and wine options, or with a jug of Sangria.

Service awful and food came out in bits not at once . Took 45 min in all to come out 1 or 2 dishes at a time and we only had 6!

We have eaten at El Puerto before using a Groupon Voucher and it was lovely. This time it was most definitely not. I appreciate that the menu states that Tapas dishes will arrive at your table on an ad hoc basis as prepared by the chef, but to receive just one dish out of our selection of six and then not receive anything else for about 15 minutes was taking it to an extreme. The first dish was, by then, nearly cold and when the next dish, Croquetas de Pollo arrived, it was even colder - still frozen in the middle. The manager was therefore called for. He apologized regarding the under-cooked chicken but hid behind the comment on the menu regarding the dishes arriving so far apart. We had to send the Mussels back as well because if the chef cannot be trusted to cook something from frozen correctly, then can he/she be trusted to cook Mussels correctly?? I know Tapas in Spain are served as more of a snack on a more individual basis, but every Tapas/Mezze restaurant I have been to in this country always serves the dishes together to allow you to have a decent meal all in one go, as we did previously on our visit to El Puerto. This was not a good evening for the restaurant as we heard quite a few other diners requesting to speak to the manager. They had better start taking notice of this feedback if they are wanting customers to return. Regretfully, we will not.
