First established in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisanal baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie, whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with the 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly-made cakes, craft pastries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose-leaf teas. Their specialities include meticulously-crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato.

I recently had a festive afternoon tea. We both thought that the mince pies and the scones were not as good as last year. Pastry on the mince pies was far too thick and dry, and the scones were very hard.

Place we went was empty, all the tables were full of used pots, service was animal, contacted Pat Val on there complaints line but heard nothing we had to ask for drinks 2 times and then ask for missing stuff, not good.

The woman I assume was the manager came across and started to clear asking if we had finished our afternoon tea, when I still was drinking my tea, this made it feel a little rushed!!

Took my friend to the the Bury branch on Friday at 15.00, with the afternoon tea voucher. We were unhappy to be told that they had run out of afternoon teas. I then asked if we could have anything else instead. The young girl went away to ask, we were told that on this occasion they would let us have a sandwich, cake and hot drink. Were told that this was a one off and they would not honor it again. Usually really enjoyed the afternoon tea and were very disappointed.
