The Lunch Box is a British restaurant and cafe, serving up a host of traditional fare including sausage rolls, pork pies, cakes, afternoons teas and full English breakfasts. Sat just off Ely’s historic market square, the establishment is a stones throw from the town’s gothic cathedral, making it a convenient stop off point for visitors and tourists.
All freshly prepared with choice of sandwiches and cakes. Very friendly lady who could not do enough, this was our second time there and will be going again.
Been before and was great. On this visit unfortunately was disappointing. Younger staff lacked service. Had prebooked our table, but had to ask for our table. What the meat choice was otherwise we would have got what was given. The vegetable were served and we waited nearly 10 minutes for the meat and potatoes. The veg was cold when the rest came. Potatoes were raw. ☹ very dissapointed
Lovely fresh sandwiches and beautifully presented afternoon tea.
The food was ok, quite a generous portion but the venue was very tired and run down.
Lady behind the counter was unfriendly. The lunch was disappointing and took ages to arrive for 2 sandwiches, the scone was doughy, not enough options, no variety just 1 sandwich and 1 cake . The waitresses didn’t speak which I found odd . Not be going again
We have been a few times but never again! This was a gift from me & I am embarrassed to say they waited over 2 hours for a very basic 2 course meal (the portion was hardly enough to feed a small child), ONE very small bowl of veg for FOUR to share, a sharp piece of plastic found in the dessert & a chef who couldn't have cared less. Not even a small effort was made to at least try make amends!
Basic and not much choice. Not very good service either. Will not be going back
Service was very slow , only two people serving , probably need more as uncleared tables all around . Not very inviting/appealing .However when the food finally arrived , we did receive an apology for the long wait, it was a good , tasty meal .
Friendly staff and great food. I’ve been a few times and never had to compla
Served on tiered plates, the choice of sandwiches that you wanted from the main menu and a slice of cake or scone from their cabinet, per person, set off nicely with a few grapes. Was able to swap tea/coffee for a latte.
