The Lunch Box is a British restaurant and cafe, serving up a host of traditional fare including sausage rolls, pork pies, cakes, afternoons teas and full English breakfasts. Sat just off Ely’s historic market square, the establishment is a stones throw from the town’s gothic cathedral, making it a convenient stop off point for visitors and tourists.
Great food and value for money. Cracking service by really friendly staff. Will definitely be back.
Food is excellent standard especially for the price you pay.
Me and my son visited the lunch box for afternoon tea , not only was the person serving a miserable person to be served by then my son found a hair hanging out of his sandwich. Cake was nice though and quite enough food for the price.
Not at all! The woman who serves us is like she doesnt want us to be there. She didnt even smile or being friendly towards us. Always in a rush were to serve us but weere the oly customer there. I think that woman shouldnt be working there. I didnt get her name short hair quite chubby. The service is appalling. Will not come back or recommend this place anymore.
Great afternoon tea and good service.
Nice enough for what was paid with a discount code....was sat upstairs, curtains hanging off, fusty smelling and cutlery, teapot etc not the cleanest or nicest and some sandwiches had crusts and some had them missing which was odd... Probably won't go back to be honest.
I have never left a negative review anywhere before. However, my friend and I were not satisfied with our meal.
The sandwiches were nice once they finally arrived, the cake was hard and difficult to cut in places.
I had ordered an afternoon tea with prosecco - they were out of prosecco despite me emailing to confirm booking a few days before. I wonder if it had anything to do with the extremely young staff manning the tills and the alcohol age limit.
They were very accommodating to my friends dietary needs.
Think carefully about what you aim to get from this place. Pop in for a quick lunch yes, afternoon tea for your friends birthday celebrations - probably not the best place.
After purchasing a prosecco tea for two we went to the lunch box to find they don’t even have alcohol there. This was meant to be a belated mother’s day treat. Not impressed :(
We were told to choose a sandwich and a cake, so there was very little choice which you expect for an afternoon tea. Unfortunately very shabby surroundings, no nice china cups and saucers and presentation nil, tea weak, filling in sandwich nil, the only saving grace was the cake. So no I would not recommend for an afternoon tea, more like a truckers café.
