From Our Editors

Built in 1794 by Brook Bridges, Goodnestone Park Gardens feature a number of old trees, including an ancient Lebanese cedar tree, large sweet chestnut trees and oaks, as well as a plethora of other plants. The daughter of the Park's founder became the wife of Jane Austen's brother, and the writer was a regular guest at the estate. She started her first novel, Pride and Prejudice, just upon returning from Goodnestone.

Had lovely walk around the woodlands, the walled garden, arboretum etc. Tea and Cake in the tea rooms was lovely. Could not get to the front area of the house garden as there was a wedding party hiring the house. We think that overall it is a lovely place to visit for a few hours but it does need a bit of TLC around the gardens, woodlands etc. etc.
