From Our Editors

First opened in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisan baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 multiple venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with a 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly-made cakes, craft patisseries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose leaf teas. Their specialties are artisan-baked croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato ice cream.

Arrived for the prosecco afternoon tea with take away mince pies. Voucher handed in and then no prosecco...asked for it and had to go through four waiters each denying we would get it before the manager found the voucher again and confirmed we could have it. Waited twenty minutes for the mince pies to be delivered so we could leave...asked multiple times and again was told not included until the manager brought a bag over and dumped them on the table. Guess the felt they were doing us a favour by providing us what we had bought...avoid the Oxford Street location at all costs!
