From Our Editors

First established in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisanal baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie, whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with the 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly-made cakes, craft pastries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose-leaf teas. Their specialities include meticulously-crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato.

Don’t waste your money. Little or no filling in the sandwiches, eclair with no cream, made feel a bit awkward having it around 11. This was only one branch so maybe others would be better.

Do not buy ‘sparkling’ version!!! Should not be offering ‘sparkling’ afternoon tea when only available at 3 of their stores!!! I really wouldn’t have minded only they wouldn’t even give you a glass of coke instead! This is very poor for customer relations and turned what would have been a good experience into a rather sour one from the start! Local lady in Forestside store was so nice but it was difficult to make up for fact we had paid for nothing. Tea itself was quite good - free tea top ups and nice buns but sandwiches a little tasteless. Regular price is £25 so paying £22 with no Prosecco was really not a good deal!! It’s not the Ritz so I just feel it’s too dear for what you get.

Pretty average. Many better options in Belfast.

The sandwiches were a little disappointing this time, been many times before and it was perfect. The reason for the disappointment was that we had only two different types of sandwich, hardly what I would call 'a selection'. There were six Ham, Mustard and a bit of a dead lettuce leaf, and only one other variety of sandwich, egg mayonnaise. The scones were delicious and the assorted pastry were also delicious.

Friendly service. Slight mix up with drinks but offered an extra one. Offered 1/2 vegetarian but all sandwiches together and it was unclear which were which. A couple of sandwiches were hard on edge but overall we still really enjoyed it, especially the scones and cakes.
